Hello, and welcome to my Frank Frazetta tumblr. I recently created the William Stout tumblr, The World of William Stout, and wanted to make an FF one as well.
Frazetta was a world-renowned illustrator and comic artist. Born in 1928, in Brooklyn, he had been drawing since the early age of 2, and attended the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts at the age of 8. At 15, Frank started his career in the comic industry, and soon had many genres under his belt-westerns, fantasy, mystery, and funnies.
He then worked on many movie posters, and paperback book covers, most notably Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert E. Howard’s work. Frazetta’s approach to Conan visually redefined the Sword and Sorcery genre, and had an enormous impact on generations of artists to come.
In the early 80s, Frank worked with the producer, Ralph Bakshi on Fire and Ice, and animated feature resembling his fantasy artwork. Many of his original paintings and drawings can be found at the Frazetta Museum(which is closed until further notice).
